“Cold Reserve: The future of the past of an island’s power plant” is a publication based on a research project focused on the power plant of the Greek island Paros. In a place where tourism sets the principal terms under which heritage is produced and maintained, a power plant relying on heavy fuel oil is kept in reserve expecting its demolition. The research aimed at problematizing the concepts of heritage and history through investigating what seems to be a “rejected heritage” of the recent past of Paros.

From the back cover:

“Within the electric atmosphere of the global energy crisis, an autonomous power plant on a Greek island is kept in reserve. Even though this should be enough to call us into thinking about its future, a group of scholars and artists focus on its past and its material remains. While the power plant of world known island of Paros gradually turns into an industrial ruin, its past is being prepared too.”
