ON THE THRESHOLD: NON CATALOG

Special edition of the 25th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival (2-12/3/2023).

Texts on the heterotopias of white in the films of Stavros Psyllakis, and an open dialogue with the filmmaker’s “companions” in an insightful gaze into his work and method. Fragments from the memory tracks that connect Thessaloniki to Auschwitz, 80 years after the departure of the first horror train that led the city’s Jews to the concentration camps. Αpproaches to the mysteries of the underworld and the upper in the town of Eleusis, where the ruins of the ancient world meet modern debris, but also the rituals of the public space that unfold in the work of Adrian Paci. Fields of definition regarding the notion of “Geoculture,” which connects the cultivation of the land with the cultivation of the human spirit, but also the notion of landscape film, as specified in Nikolaus Geirhalter’s unique observational cinema.

Orestis Andreadakis, Stavros Psyllakis, Syllas Tzoumerkas, Niovi Zarabouka-Hatzimanou, Marina Gioti, Thouli Misirloglou, and Geli Mademli participate in this edition of the Festival’s Non Catalog series, entitled On the Threshold.
