The Institution Trilogy is a collection of projects made by Anders Petersen during the 1980’s and 1990’s. This volume combines three institutional spaces; Prison, Elderly Care and Mental Institution. Each was published as independent books; Fängelse (1984), Rågång till Kärleken (1991), Ingen har sett allt (1995). The Institution Trilogy brings together all three projects with fresh editing, sequencing, texts and framed in a conceptual design. The book serves as a historical document of life in these Swedish institutions and illustrates the evolution of Anders Petersen’s documentary photography moving towards a greater subjective sensibility. New texts from Niclas Östlind, Michael Grieve and an interview with Anders Petersen.
